week 19 and we’ve got some new items in our half share!

but surprisingly not the end-of-season veggies that we got from my last csa. every week after about week 11 or 12, we received onions and garlic. none of that here. i will admit – i’m a tiny bit bummed about it.
that doesn’t mean that i don’t love all of the glorious produce we did receive, though!

this week’s haul included:
- potatoes
- [giant] sweet potatoes
- yukon gold potatoes
- savoy cabbage
- squash
- daikon radishes
- beets
- green leaf lettuce
- lettuce mix
- green and red tomatoes
a quick story: i had all of the veggies unpacked and sitting on the table outside when it started to pour down rain! i grabbed my camera and headed inside to wait it out. it lasted all of 3 minutes and then the sun came out and it was glorious weather all afternoon. it’s ok though – the veggies got a nice pre-wash!

have you ever tried daikon radishes?
i haven’t! i haven’t tried savoy cabbage before either… lots of experimenting potential this week!

I have tried daikon…once in Austin I found a giant one that looked like a scary monster hand so obviously I had to buy it.
I made an Asian slaw with it that was ‘eh’ OK. It wasn’t the daikons fault though.

Also, I spy delicata! YUM! I waffle back nd forth but in the end, delicata has yet to fail me in deliciousness, while some other squash are not always 100% amazing.
[Again, is this their fault...or mine?]

i’m not sure that i’ve ever made a delicata. i was just going to roast it like i do with every other winter squash (except spaghetti….). boring, but effective and delicious!
hah! i am always attracted to the weird-looking produce too.
i still haven’t used the daikon for anything. must get on that.
