i was pleasantly surprised when i picked up our wholesome harvest csa half share box this week. it was heavy and filled to the top with veggies.

my little helper while i unpacked the box…
cutie pie.
this week we received:
- yellow cherry tomatoes
- big tomatoes
- a giant kohlrabi
- cucumbers
- green bell pepper
- yellow bell pepper
- lettuce mix
- greens mix
- red potatoes (a new item!!)
- spaghetti squash (fall produce!!!!)
- small sun jewel melon (a mystery item!)

and i don’t have a plan for everything yet! the kohlrabi and cucumbers will probably be for snacking. the lettuce & greens will go in side salads of course. i think i’m going to let myself go with the flow for the rest of the veggies this week! if i do anything really cool with them, i’ll report back.
…………………..
have you ever heard of a sun jewel melon?
i hadn’t before this week!

Holy crap, now THAT’S a good box! I’m pretty jealous of that spaghetti squash you got there. I’ve never heard of or tried sun jewel melon, but it sounds sweet and delicious. I should try CSA next year maybe. Seems like a very good program! Or can you join any time during the year?

yess! i think you’d love it! as far as i’m aware, you can only join at the beginning of the season. a lot of places have a winter share though – you can still sign up for those around here, so maybe you could find one!
