yesterday, brad and i joined a bunch of our friends at the great taste of the midwest, a huge beer festival put on by the madison homebrewers and tasting guild.
over a hundred breweries come each year and over 500 beers are available to sample!
the beer fest runs from 1-6pm and costs $50 to attend. tickets sell out the day they go on sale, so you have to wait in line hours ahead of time to get them.
when you enter, you receive a tasting glass (i love this year’s glasses!)…
and then you just head to one of the 10+ beer tents, find an intriguing sounding brewery, and pick out a beer to try!
with so many beers, it’s impossible to try even close to all of them, so you just have to pick and choose!
there is a lot of other stuff to do besides drink beer though. lots of people bring instruments and play music, there are food tents, and brad and jeremy even found a foosball table!
seriously, wherever we are, if there is a foosball table, brad will find it and he will play at least a couple games! they found this table in the vintage brewing company tent. they played 3 or 4 games!
this was our second year attending the great taste, and we always have a great time!
the best thing about day drinking?! you recover from any hangover you might have during the night! i woke up feeling great this morning!

Did you have a specific favorite?
hmm…I’d have to look up the names of the beers in the program. my normal favorites are ale asylum Hoppalicious & new Glarus spotted cow.
Man, I wish I liked beer, i heard about that yesterday and it looked so fun!! Really the only “beer” that I like are of the hard apple cider variety.
Too funny on foosball, I’m terrible at it. Looks like a fun day. I’m more of an ale fan, the heavier beers are a little too heavy for me.
I’m a big wheat beer fan, too. Looks like a fun time. Too bad Daniel doesn’t like beer at all.
oh no! that is really a bummer.
I definitely don’t have that problem with brad!
That looks like it was a blast! I love beer festivals, always a good, laid back time! I really love wheat beers, but my favorite beer is a pumpkin ale from a brewery in Maine (Shipyard). It’s out now for the fall, so happy!
