random thoughts on a monday…

by Sarah Zinkel on September 17, 2012

…my back hurts.

i weeded the landscaping in our yard for at least four hours yesterday. i did not use proper posture and now i’m paying for it. ouch!

at least the yard looks 100x better.

garden - before - full of weeds

i didn’t get to the garden though. bummer. i’ll have to tackle that sometime this week or next weekend.

…….

…one of our dogs (i’m betting it was jake) decided that our wall looked delicious.

dog ate drywall

ughhhh.

add patching drywall and trying to figure out what color of white all of the walls in our house are painted to the list.

the hole is actually bigger than that now.

he apparently went back for more after i took this picture.

…………………..

….i hate having a cluttered kitchen table.

kitchen table clutter

but it’s so convenient to drop everything there when we come in the house.

*sigh*

………………….

….trees are turning colors!!!

trees changing colors!

i took this picture last week at the bus stop.

yay fall!

…………………………

….we drink a lot of iced coffee.

coffee

i try to make a couple pots at a time so i don’t have to do it every single day.

it’s really a very helpful little time saver! :)

…………………………

….it’s monday

i have a busy week this week! lots of hours to put in at work, a new iin test released, so i need to finish up the last modules that it covers, and those house projects i mentioned earlier.

whew.

i better get to it!

…………………………..

anyone else’s dog ever eat their wall?

do you have any low maintenance landscaping tips for me?

I understand the wall situation! Clifford did that when I first got him. Now he just eats zippers and buttons. Do they have the full run of the house or do you gate them in an area?

they had run of the house! now jake goes in his kennel while we’re gone for a long time.

thankfully, it’s been about a week since the wall-eating incidents and they haven’t been repeated. i’m wondering if it was due to boredom? but those dogs have SO MANY TOYS! i don’t know how they could be bored.

I’m so glad it’s almost fall and it’s starting to feel like it too!
We have a pretty low-maintenance landscaping situation in our house and it was already there when we moved in. In the garden-ish area are: hostas, bleeding heart bushes, peonies, TONS OF MINT, sedums and a random tree LOL. All I know is, we just weeded it and it’s looking fine. We did plant some tulip bulbs over the weekend though so they’ll be sprouting in the spring!

My dog has done that a few times! What the heck even makes them do that? Soooo weird.

My last dog ate the walls for awhile, then she just stoped one day. Weird!! I get the whole “dump your crap on the kitchen table” thing….we tend to do that too.

Great job with your yard… I know how much it sucks but I bet you are glad you got as much done as you did! The garden will be done in no time too!

And re: the wall… my pugs would scratch the door of our sunroom, damaging it. And when I say our sunroom I mean my MIL’s when we lived there. EEK. So we fixed it then put up a panel of plexiglass on each door. They would still scratch but couldn’t damage anything! If there’s an area they like that might be a good way to deter it. We put it up with the 3M command strips (white walls- so it would work! Hard to see them!) and it lasted til we moved! You can get them cut to any size at home improvement type stores.
