project life: 10.7.12-10.13.12

by Sarah Zinkel on October 19, 2012

i switched up my project life album a bit last week.

i realized that it doesn’t make sense for me to end my weeks on sundays because i like to put together my layouts on sunday, so i essentially miss that entire day in the spread!

i’m going to try sunday-saturday spreads and see how that works instead.

so this week covers sunday, october 7-saturday, october 13.

and it was a busy week!

i’ve got two inserts and lots of photos.

the left page is from early in the week.

i kept the date card simple simple, added a journal card with my monday by the numbers! family & puppy photos were too cute not to include.

the first insert i used this week was a photo pocket page – design h.

this week officially kicked off tea season for me, so i added a couple photos and a tea package.

here is the back of that insert. we had a bon fire and a little gathering with my family when liz was home, so i included photos from that.

the second insert was photo pocket page – design g.

on the front are photos from the morning i spent hanging out with my mom, liz, and our nephew (step-nephew?) blake! i kept this page simple – i think the photos tell the stories pretty well. :)

here’s the back of that insert. i included some photos from a coffee date that liz and i took to our cousins’ coffee shop as well as a fun journaling card. liz and blake had a hilarious dialogue when they were playing (bottom right photo on the insert), and i tried to recreate it!

annnnddd, the last page. more photos from at home & some that i took outside and my mom’s house, a picture from the wedding we went to, and me snuggling jake when i got back to madison on saturday night!

now the detail shots…

i had too many horizontal photos this week, so i printed three of them as 4×6 photos, then cut them in half and used two vertical 3×4 pockets to hold them.

i also jotted the recipe for that tasty tomato appetizer on a smash captions card.

i did something i’ve done before and used washi tape to make lines for journaling on a plain card.

the last two things that i really liked about this week’s layout was the added tea wrapper and the use of instagram photos.

i haven’t done much of adding in random bits & scraps that i encounter through my days, but i’m going to try to get better at that. and who doesn’t love instagram photos?!

whew! lots of pictures in this post, huh?

don’t worry, this week is quite boring, so who knows what i’ll pull together for the album!

do you guys like my project life recaps?

i don’t want to keep doing them if no one enjoys them!

I really enjoy your posts, and I (finally!) started a Project Life album! (Kinda.) I decided to start a digital one through Shutterfly. Part of my hesitation to start my album, aside from that whole “waiting for the right moment” thing was a lack of decent printer so the digital route seemed like the way to go.

I definitely think some extra creativity will be needed to add those little details like your tea wrapper toa digital book…

i thought about doing my project life album digitally, but since i’m already sitting in front of my computer about 75% of my waking hours (ok, that might be a little exaggeration, but still…) i decided it’d be nice to do a paper album. i don’t print my photos at home though. i just send them to walgreens every week. they’re definitely not the highest quality of photos, but i didn’t want to deal with a photo printer at home. it seems like more hassle than it’s worth unless you get a REALLY good (EXPENSIVE) printer. this works for now!
