new look!

by Sarah Zinkel on October 3, 2012

i had a little bit of fun yesterday afternoon doing something i’ve been meaning to do for a while now – i updated my blog look! not much has changed with the design, but i made a new header and changed up the colors.

i loved my old header/color scheme, but the more i thought about it, the less i felt like it fit with my blog. i needed some more saturated and bold colors!

to refresh your memory, this was my blog header & colors until yesteday…

what do you think?!

moving on from blog design talk….

it’s what i ate wednesday!

thanks go out to jenn, as always, for hosting this link party!

i started out my day so well with taking photos of my food, and then i totally dropped off by the end of the day. here is my incomplete documentation of what i ate yesterday!

first up?

morning coffee

coffee of course. i had this mug x 3 or 4 throughout the morning. i had to take jake to the vet for some vaccinations, so i was working at home all morning, which means i had way too easy access to the coffee maker!

after a bit of work and some time to let my stomach start to grumble, i had an apple with the last of my nutty butter (seriously, it’s tragic – how did we go through it so quickly?!?!).

apples and peanut butter are my new breakfast favorite.

and then a couple minutes later, my huge handful of supplements!

daily supplements

i laugh at this photo – that’s a lot of pills, huh?

[i also cringe when i look at this picture – lotion anyone?!]

imagine me working for a few hours, and then coming up for air to find myself so hungry that i run downstairs to the kitchen leaving my camera up in the office eating my dust.

haha, ok, not that dramatic, but i did forget to take pictures of my lunch.

it was a hodge podge of roasted sweet potatoes with ketchup, cottage cheese, and two hard boiled eggs.

then i worked some more, with a break to drink some greens.

nurish greens drink

yum. i am still loving this brand of greens – we were out, so i re-stocked last night and enjoyed it in my new purple blender bottle!

dinner was delicious, but did not photograph well since it was way past dark when we ate.

i mixed together little salads for each of us to start with.

they had mixed greens, bell peppers, cherry tomatoes, carrots, radishes, and some cheese!

we also each had a 3 oz salmon filet, but the pictures were way too ugly to post on the blog – sorry! imagine salmon baked with lemon juice and lemon pepper.

then i had a little lucy’s chocolate chip cookie for dessert.

lucy's gluten free chocolate chip cookies

i got these as an impulse buy last week, and finally decided to try them.

and yes, i didn’t even think about it when i picked them up, but they’re clearly not grain-free. so i had a cheat for dessert – oops.

i collapsed into bed soon after dinner, but first we had some laughs at jake. capone was chewing on a bone (jake had one too, but finished it way before capone did) and jake was so focused on staring capone and his bone down.

it was so funny, especially for my little a.d.d. puppy who doesn’t pay attention to any one thing for more than a few minutes at a time!

now i’m off for a full day of work. woop woop.

enjoy your wednesday! :)

what are your favorite cookies?

i’m partial to brad’s grandma’s chocolate chip cookies or any monster cookies!

LOVE the new header and design! I’ve been trying to make my photo in the sidebar a round photo, but I can’t figure out how to do it :( Do you have any suggestions?

I take a handful of supplements everyday too. As long as it’s not all actual doctor “medicine” I feel perfectly fine taking that amount if it is making me feel better.

Love the new design!

i totally with you on the supplements! i’d much prefer to take pro-active natural supplements than synthetic prescriptions that work as a band-aid to treat symptoms and not the actual source of the problem.

Love the new design, great colors! Tanner and Clifford can’t chew bones at the same time it leads to way too much jealously.

haha, we always give jake & capone a bone at the same time. the problem is that jake is a beast and barely chews, so he always finishes before capone and then stalks capone until he finishes too. dogs…

Oh nut butters :) I’m right there with you. My favorite dessert for a long time was sliced green apple dipped in almond butter. Had to force myself to stop though :( One because I noticed I was getting a bit of a sugar crash afterwards (weird, right?) and because I caught myself more than once eating the almond butter in large quantities. The day I had to run to the bathroom because I gorged myself on almost half a jar was the day I quit buying it :) Ah well. Your versions look AMAZING.

i totally hear you – it’s way too easy to go overboard on nut butters!

and the sugar crash – i’m not sure if you buy your almond butter or if you make it yourself, but some of the kinds you can buy at the store do have a surprising amount of sugar in them! i never really checked with nut butters because i never thought of them as being sweetened, but oh yes they are!
