my first quilt

ok, so it’s not finished yet, but i couldn’t wait to share my latest project.

i’m making a quilt!

it’s really about time too. i got my sewing machine as an early christmas present (in november!) and i’ve had the fabric sitting in a bag in our guest room closet since early november.

i’m following elise’s triangle quilt tutorial, and it’s going pretty well so far.

the cutting of the fabric only took about 1.5 hours.

i had to finally buck up and figure out how to use my sewing machine. it was an adventure, but not at all as difficult as i was building it up in my head to be. although, sewing in a straight line is definitely a challenge for me.

piecing together the squares on our guest bed might have been my favorite part of the process so far. it was so cool to get an idea of how the quilt will look!

after only two nights of working on it (including the fabric cutting night), i had a quilt top! (it is totally not even close to perfect, so don’t look too closely.)

i’m working on quilting the 3 layers together now (quilt top + batting + navy blue quilt back). i’m just over halfway done with the quilting. then all i’ve got left is to sew on the binding and i’ll be done. i’m guessing it’ll take two nights of working on it this week. i can’t wait to show the finished product!
