i’m so predictable

by Sarah Zinkel on March 16, 2012

good morning & happy friday, everyone!

sadly, i seem to be in a cooking rut & really don’t have much to show you from the kitchen lately. i ate leftovers for dinner last night and pickles, cheese, and chips the night before. yeah…not sure what’s going on with that (no, i’m not pregnant!).

anyway, that’s why i’m very thankful to janetha for this a-z survey. i always hop on board with blogger surveys, and this one is no different, it just came at the perfect time for me!

A is for age: i’m 26 – it took me a couple seconds of calculating to confirm that… i’m ok with my age though – i think i’m in a good place for being 26.

B is for breakfast today: hot oats and coffee -  yay for work-at-home day breakfasts!

C is for currently craving: i’m actually really satisfied after breakfast and am not really craving any food right now. i could go for snuggling back up in bed for a couple more hours though…

D is for dinner tonight: i’m not sure. i have all of the ingredients for ashley’s stuffed peppers with black bean crema, so i think we’ll have that!

E is for favorite type of exercise: walking the dogs – does that count? it’s my favorite thing to do! i am learning to like running and strength training, but i’m not sure either of them could be considered a favorite…

F is for an irrational fear: i am pretty much scared of anything. i can’t walk next to a construction site without imagining a huge piece of concrete falling down on me. or drive on a bridge without imagining it collapsing and myself plunging to my death. i think those thoughts are most definitely irrational and things that most people don’t think about…

G is for gross food: hmm. there really is not a lot that i don’t like. [i just sat here for at least a couple minutes staring into space trying to think of a food i don’t like….] the least appealing thing i can think of is a fast food fish sandwich. they gross me out now, but i have eaten them in the past….

H is for hometown: manitowoc, wi! <3 i’ve grown fond of manitowoc after living away for almost 8 years! i wouldn’t want to move back there, but i always love going back to visit friends & family.

I is for something important: calling your mom & sister – both things i need to do more often!

J is for current favorite jam: lately i’ve been loving my bon iver pandora station – i listen to it all day!

K is for kids: in a couple years.

for now these guys keep us busy!

L is for current location: de forest, wi –> sitting at the computer in our apartment

M is for the most recent way you spent money: i had to stop at the supermarket on wednesday afternoon to pick up some puppy food for jake.

N is for something you need: to make some progress on my dissertation writing. ughhhhh. i wish i could hire someone to write it for me.

O is for occupation: graduate student until august. after that, who knows! what to hire me?

P is for pet peeve: oh i’ve got many! poor grammar and punctuation misuse are two of the worst offenders. also on the list: drivers who don’t use their blinkers, people who don’t pick up their dog’s poo, baby talk when it’s not to babies or pets (so basically baby talk to adults.).

Q is for a quote: i got this in my inbox this week & saved it:

"If we had no winter, the spring would not be so pleasant; if we did not taste of adversity, prosperity would not be so welcome."
Anne Bradstreet

R is for random fact about you: i love cottage cheese. it takes a lot of willpower for me to not plow through the huge costco containers of it in a couple days.

S is for favorite healthy snack: chobani with granola is the best!

20120301-2012-03-01 004

i am also a fan of veggies with hummus.

T is for favorite treat: ice cream ice cream ice cream! i’m not very picky, but blue moon is my favorite.

U is for something that makes you unique: i always say growing up on a farm with chickens, rabbits, horses, etc. makes me semi-unique. my mom grew tons of vegetables in her huge gardens and preserved them, i collected the eggs from the chickens, we ate chicken/rabbit/pork that we raised…

V is for favorite vegetable: asparagus! followed closely by brussels sprouts, mushrooms (roasted), and bell peppers.

W is for today’s workout: i didn’t get up at 4:45 today, so i haven’t worked out yet. i decided sleep was more important. since it’s a work-at-home day, i’m planning to do workout c from tina’s bootcamp for a lunchtime break!

X is for X-rays you’ve had: my teeth & my ankle after i injured it working in a factory during one of my college summers. ugh. that sucked & i’ve still got a nasty scar on my ankle to remember it.

i’ll spare you a photo.

Y is for yesterday’s highlight: coming home from work & being able to plop on the couch and watch a grey’s marathon for a couple hours because i had already finished my workout!

oh yeah, and making this creamy avocado dip.

Z is for your time zone: central time.

whew! that was way harder and more time-consuming than i thought to fill out.

i guess i’ll just leave it at that for today.

what are your plans for st. patrick’s day this weekend?

pick a letter or two and tell me how you would answer it!

I don’t eat ice cream all that often, but Blue Moon just makes me happy. Bonus if it’s Cedar Crest, but it is hard to find in the Twin Cities.

I haven’t had blue moon forever and it totally reminds me of my childhood (in Appleton…that covers H). Is that flavor just a Wisconsin thing? My favorite vegetable is Brussels sprouts, and my workout today is a ten mile run.
