one of the things on my 101 in 1001 list that i’ve been most excited to tackle is number 47 – buy art from etsy.
now, when i wrote that, i wasn’t thinking of spending $$$ on some fancy painting or whatever. nope, i was thinking of getting some prints to frame. as much as i love having framed photos of my loved ones on the walls, i’d like a little more variety.
so, i was doing a little procrastinating browsing on etsy the other day and found this wisconsin print from b&a prints (they have no idea who i am, i’m just giving a shout out because they’re great!).
i was doubly excited when i saw that they were happy to customize the print by highlighting a city of my choice in a color of my choice. i’m all about yellow now, so that decision was easy. but which city? i saw manitowoc on the print. that’s where brad & i are both from, so i was thinking about that one, but in the end i went with madison.
it’s where we live now – the first place we ever lived together. i like it!
the print is still waiting for it’s home –> we’ve got big plans in the works for where to hang it….i’ll update you on that next friday! (oooo, suspense!).
………………………
so tell me.
which state would you most want a print of? which city would you highlight?
b&a prints has a print for every state (i think), so if you like this, you should go check them out! their prints are really affordable & they were so easy to work with. plus, i got my print in less than a week!

I love Etsy art! I have trouble shopping for art in stores and at galleries, so Etsy is always the answer for me.
I’m a huge map fiend, so I have all kinds of vintage maps on my walls, mostly of my home state, VA.

I saw something similar for Ann Arbor and East Lansing! How cute. I want to do this three-series thing I saw on Pinterest:
-Cut out three maps in hearts around the cities where you and your significant other met, married and live.

I am TOTALLY doing this for our home!
…Also, if you want cool art from Etsy, you should check out my friends new coaster shop! They make custom coasters. They’re so amazing!

ohhh, thanks girl! i love the 3 maps thing! i don’t know if we’d do the met/married/honeymoon’ed theme because we met/got married in the same place (our hometown) and we didn’t really take a honeymoon! haha! i would like to do manitowoc (hometown/where we got married/met), st. louis (where we started dating), & madison (the first place we lived together/probably the only place we’ll live!).
and yep, i love those coasters! i’ll definitely look into getting some soon!
That’s so cool! Our whole apartment theme is travel-related. We have black and white prints of iconic shots of places all over the world, like Big Ben. It’s easier to decorate with Europe stuff because we both love it there, but Terry likes LA and I like San Francisco. So I guess if I could get two highlighted cities…

I would be all about this if they had my hometown on it to highlight…its only like 1,000 people but I see smaller towns than that on there! Would be a great way to represent – despite living in Minnesota for over 3 years now, I still wear my love for Wisconsin “on my sleeve” so why not on my walls too!
if a city isn’t listed, you can leave a “note to seller” and they’ll make sure to include it on the map!
I love it. What a great piece!
This is a great idea! I’d love some Indiana art since that’s where hubby and I spent our first five years together. But a NJ or FL print would be great, too! My first home and my current home
