alternate post title: second time’s the charm!
remember this project?

the first time i attempted it, i didn’t leave the etching cream on long enough and i could hardly make out the words. boo.
but, i am stubborn.
and i wanted this to work.
so i tried again.
this time, i had my sights set on my plain crate & barrel glass containers that we use to store oats, coffee beans, and flour in.
(forgot to take a “before” of the containers…source)
then, i followed the instructions on young house love again….i traced my words on painters tape to make my stencil. i made a really thick stencil by layering 3+ strips of painters tape on top of each other instead of having a thin, 1 strip, stencil.
this time, i left the etching cream on for the whole 5 minutes & crossed my fingers that it wouldn’t break down my still pretty flimsy stencil!
after all was said and done, this is what i was left with….
do you see it?
how about now?
coffee success!
and oats success!
happy dance.
the flour one looks great too – it was really hard to capture on film on digital record though.
i have to tell you, i am beyond thrilled with this project! i love how subtle the etching is.
now i have to resist etching things into every glass object in our apartment! hah! it’s surprisingly addicting.
and now i can check #98 off the list!

today is another work from home day! i’ve got some fine-tuning + practicing to do on my presentation, and then it’s the weekend! woot woot!
brad and i are laying low tonight – probably just hang out at home. then tomorrow morning, he’s got to work, so i’ll probably bake or something while he’s gone, and then we’re going back to manitowoc for the night to hang out with our families!
i hope you all have some exciting weekend plans ahead too!

what diy projects have you done?
i know this is a pretty little thing, but i’m trying to expand my comfort zone! i really want to refinish or paint our dress and add some new hardware to spruce it up!
i’m not sure i’m quite there yet though…

That is such a good idea! I am seriously in love with those jars. What a good DIY project! I think the dresser project will be fun too — can’t wait to see what you come up with!
Cute puppy =)
