this weekend i tagged along with liz and keith (liz’s boyfriend) to a wedding! the groom is an old friend from middle/high school and he played baseball with keith a couple years ago and they became good friends. keith was a groomsman in the wedding!
the venue was awesome. it was at a lodge resort with lots of cabins and beautiful scenery.
for today’s what i ate wednesday, i thought it would be fun to share what i ate over the wedding weekend!

first, liz and i packed up some snacks for the car ride up north to the wedding.
a tomato <—difficult to eat while driving!
lots of grapes, some watermelon, plus a babybel cheese and a larabar each!
funny story: about 30 seconds after taking this picture, liz dumped the whole container of fruit onto the floor of my jeep. we didn’t want to waste the delicious grapes, though, so we used a wet napkin to clean them off one by one to eat them.
we arrived at the church with plenty of time to say hi to keith, who was looking studly in his tux!
and then we headed inside. it was a nice ceremony and the church was packed! kyle & abby are clearly very loved!
after the ceremony, liz and i headed to the lodge to bring our bags in and hit up the cocktail hour!
i had a couple glasses of red wine – first merlot, and then i switched to cab when they brought that out! [liz had a bloody mary!]
there were some snacks – cheese + crackers + sausage – but i wasn’t feeling it, so i waited ‘til dinner.
unfortunately, dinner was probably my least favorite part of the wedding.
the salad was good…
but the rest was disappointing. dry chicken, overly smokey beef, and glue-like mashed potatoes.
boo.
i did enjoy the cake though!
it was lemon cake with a raspberry filling!
after the couple glasses of wine and that cake i needed a nap!
but i rallied to see the first dances, slideshow, and hear some of the band!
oh yeah, and to hit up the candy buffet….
yum!
overall, it was a really fun wedding!
…
a couple more weekend eats…
on sunday we went back to my mom’s house for a quick family gathering so everyone could see liz & keith! liz hadn’t been home since the holidays and keith hadn’t been back since brad’s & my wedding!
of course my mom outdid herself with a full spread of food.
mini ham sandwiches, seven layer salad, two kinds of quiche, fruit salad, two awesome desserts, bloody mary’s, mimosas, and more!
it was a perfect afternoon with lots of laughs with the fam. i wish liz could come home more! i loved having a whole weekend with her!
…..
what’s your favorite part of a wedding?
i like dancing with brad & eating the food if it’s good!

Yay! I had such a great time with you this weekend babay!
me too darling! it was wonderful.
You and your sister are just adorable together! Loved that color blue on you! You’re like me: I’m a wino at weddings :-X Looks like you guys had a blast! Your mom sure knows how to feed her family. Um, invite me over next time? haha. My favorite part of weddings is dancing with my boo and watching the first dance. So much love!

wasn’t it pretty!?!? we got to watch them put it together – it was CRAZY!! so much work just to assemble all the layers and embellishments!!

aww, thanks, maureen! it’s from the limited. i really like how flowy it is – easy to hide my stomach if i eat too much!
i made a point to take a picture of their candy buffet because we had one at our wedding and somehow NO ONE took a picture of it and i spent SO MUCH time/money on it. i am seriously still bummed that we missed that so i didn’t want the same thing to happen to them!
I haven’t been to a wedding in a while but I love how happy everyone is!

so true! usually it’s such a joyful day!
Dancing used to be my favorite part, but now I get tired so early in the night. Me = lame. Now I like the cocktail hour and dinner the best because it’s fun to catch up with friends.

i’m pretty lame too. i only like dancing if i have a partner! i can get on board with enjoying a good cocktail hour though.
that’s not lame at all!
Wow, looks like such a fun time with Liz! The place looks beautiful ~ where was it? I saw some of the pictures on Facebook, which were fantastic. And that cake ~ amazing!
I have to say, I pretty much love everything about weddings. I’m sappy!
The only thing that I don’t like is when Terry stands up in a wedding where I don’t know anyone… Boo to that!

the venue was in warren (near tomah) right by (maybe part of?) jellystone. it was beautiful!!!
oh yeah, i hear you on not knowing anyone at a wedding. brad and i went to one where he only know one or two people but the groom was a friend from college and i didn’t know anyone. it wasn’t very much fun.
That is SUCH an awesome looking cake! I love it!!!
