hi friends!
i’m here today to tell you about my awesome-packed package i got from darlynn through the foodie penpal exchange in january.
i got the box a couple weeks ago, and good thing i took a photo when i did, because there is not much from this package still sitting around!
darlynn seriously spoiled me rotten. thank you so much!!
so what is in this box that has caused me to gush so much about it?!
well first, she send me three mini hanuttas. seriously, hanutta is my absolute favorite treat! i first tried it when i went to germany in high school and it’s the most awesome combination of crunchy wafer, hazelnut, and chocolate. those were gone within 2 hours of opening the box. no lie. i didn’t even take a picture.
also in the box was this krave turkey jerky that i talked about on sunday.
i need to find this stuff and stock up. it is delicious!
darlynn also included some tea, a soup mix, some mini containers of garlic olive oil and mustard,
a hot cocoa mix, an awesome dark chocolate chili & lime candy bar – awesome, two flavors of coconut water (which i’ve been enjoying after workouts),
a single serving hummus packet, and an individual serving bag of spicy almond pieces.
i was in awe after checking out everything that was included in this package. she also packed it up in an adorable red basket that i have made into my tea basket to hold most of my tea collection!
thank you again so much darlynn, i loved every single thing!

now, a bit more about foodie penpals…
it’s a food exchange through the mail organized by the lovely lindsay of the lean green bean!
here’s how it works, straight from the mastermind herself:
-on the 5th of every month, you will receive your penpal pairing via email. it will be your responsibility to contact your penpal and get their mailing address and any other information you might need like allergies or dietary restrictions.
-you will have until the 15th of the month to put your box of goodies in the mail. on the last day of the month, you will post about the goodies you received from your penpal!
-the boxes are to be filled with fun foodie things, local food items or even homemade treats! the spending limit is $15. the box must also include something written. this can be anything from a note explaining what’s in the box, to a fun recipe…use your imagination!
-you are responsible for figuring out the best way to ship your items depending on their size and how fragile they are. (don’t forget about flat rate boxes!)
-foodie penpals is open to blog readers as well as bloggers. if you’re a reader and you get paired with a blogger, you are to write a short guest post for your penpal to post on their blog about what you received. if two readers are paired together, neither needs to worry about writing a post for that month.
if you’re interested in participating for february, please send an email to lindsay attheleangreenbean@gmail.com and include the following information:
-your full name
-your email address
-your blog name/address (if applicable)
-your twitter handle (if applicable)
lindsay needs to hear from you by february 4th as pairings will be emailed on the 5th.
also, i sent a box to mindy, so go see what local madison goodies i picked out for her!

I love everything that you got and the basket is super darn cute. I might have to steal that idea for next month’s penpal.

i’m hoping the jerky was from world market, too. i’m going this weekend to use up my birthday coupon!
you should let me know if you see the jerky there, please?!
Thank you for all the love! I am glad you liked it!
thank YOU, darlynn! you really spoiled me rotten!
You certainly were spoiled! The garlic oil and the dijon mustard look particularly awesome to me. How cool that you got to be reminded of a trip to Germany with what was in your box! And I’ve never tried jerky but I’ve been seeing it in the blog world a lot lately and that flavor intrigues me!

you’ve never tried jerky?!? i grew up eating venison jerky, so i never thought about the fact that some people might not really eat it…
What a delicious box! I’ve never had mini hanuttas, but now I definitely want to try some. That chowder caught my eye…. looks delicious! Nice score on the Foodie penpal box.

i still haven’t made the chowder, but it’s on the plan for this weekend! i’ll probably mix it up tonight.

I’m a big fan of World Market too – the food aisle is like a mini Trader Joe’s! Look for Biscoff spread next time you’re there – my best discovery ever at WM!

shoot, i was just at world market and forgot to look for biscoff! i’ve still never tried that stuff.
Bummer! Hope you get it next time. I like it best spread thinly on toast – sooooo delish!
