good morning, friends!
happy cinco de mayo!!!
i’m not celebrating today, but brad and i did have an early celebration last night with some mexican food & margaritas!
two pitchers between 3 people was probably not the best idea though.
anyway…
let’s rewind a bit.
yesterday afternoon i had a little impromptu pampering session.
the place that brad & i go to get our hair cut was having an anniversary special with half off a bunch of their services including shellac manicures and massages, so i took full advantage of the deals.
i got a one hour full body massage, which was glorious (check off another 101 in 1001 item!).
and a shellac manicure, which was ok.
(they didn’t have many nail polish colors to choose from, which was kind of a bummer…).
it was a perfect couple hours of relaxation that i have not enjoyed in quite a while!
however, when i was getting ready for my massage, i had some moments of doubt and nervousness. it had been almost 4 years since i got a professional massage, and i was feeling very self conscious of my body. i was feeling very gross and not confident at all.
but, i gave myself a little pep talk – seriously, massage therapists are professionals and they see every body type imaginable. i’m sure i’m nothing out of the ordinary for them, right?
plus, my body is nothing to be ashamed of. is it where i want it to be? no. but is it still pretty great? yes of course! it proved itself to me just last weekend running crazylegs.
anyway, i’m glad i got over that stupid moment of insecurity because i felt awesome all evening after that massage.
i am not letting another 4 years go by before i get another one!

i hope you all have fun plans for this saturday. i’ve got a career day even from 8:30 this morning until 5 this afternoon. but tonight we’ve got some fun plans, so i guess that kind of makes up for it.

I am getting one tomorrow! I have a long run this morning and figured my sore muscles could use some lovin’. There was a deal on a Groupon-like email I get for the Madison area at The Wellness Room. I can’t wait!
Good job on the pep talk – you do look great and your body is strong (Crazylegs, bootcamp, etc.)!
thanks, angie!
i am always SO tempted by the group deal emails! they’re such good deals.
I get a massage at least once a year…it’s all I ask my hubby to give me for my birthday. I go to this cute little hole in the wall day spa and get a massage, facial and mani/pedi.
Let us know how your shellac mani keeps. I’ve heard they stay for 2-3 weeks with no chipping. I’m thinking of getting on before I go on vacation this year.

so far so good with the shellac mani! no chips and it’s been a week and a half! one thing i don’t like is that it grows out so quickly. but i think my nails do grow extra fast, so it might just be me…
Happy Cinco de Mayo to you, too! Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Good for you for getting a pamper day! I like that shellac color too.
