how was everyone’s 4th of july yesterday? ours ended up being really fun! we didn’t have any plans going into the day, but around 5:00, brad and i decided to host a last minute grill out. there was some beer, bean bag toss, lots of a.c., even more adorable puppies, and good food. not bad for something that was thrown together in less than two hours!
moving on. it’s time for another csa thursday!
this week, we received the following items in our wholesome harvest csa box:
- giant kohlrabi
- radishes
- scallions
- swiss chard
- two zucchini
- turnips
- lettuce mix
we’ve already made quite a dent in the veggies thanks to a delicious dinner frittata!
this guy had the swiss chard, a zucchini, and the scallions in it.
i’ve already already tackled the kohlrabi – just slide it up and dip in hummus, and brad has had some radishes in a salad.
the turnips have been puzzling me every week. i just checked my from asparagus to zucchini cookbook that we got the first week of the csa for a recipe & found one that host potential! i’m crossing my fingers that it’ll be a success. i need to get over my fear of the turnip!
………………..
what did you do yesterday?
what are your favorite veggies to put in a frittata?
any suggestions for using up the turnips?
