good morning, friends!
how does everyone’s monday look? mine’s not too bad. i have lots of work (from home!) planned and then another big (big!) appointment this evening. cross your fingers for us, we’re a little worried about this one…
moving on.
i wanted to give a quick update today on how my dairy elimination is going so far.
overall, things are good. my skin is looking decent. as i mentioned before, i definitely see hormonal fluctuations in the degree of my acne, so i’m probably going to eliminate diary for a while longer before i start adding things back in to try to really figure out if dairy has an impact.
as far as what i’ve been eating, i think i’ve been doing a really good job of avoiding dairy. there have been a few times where i’ve eaten something that has dairy in it out of habit and only realized it afterward. like on saturday when i had one of my favorite coffee drinks and then realized that it has skim milk in it… oops. but overall, my diet has been pretty clean. it’s certainly a departure from my normal though.
for example:
dinner at chipotle, which usually includes both cheese and a little sour cream on the burrito bowl…
instead i got guac and extra salsa!
also, i’ve been avoiding my favorite lattes at starbucks because their only dairy free milk option is soy and i try not to consume too many non-traditional soy foods.
instead i’ve been loving the green and passion tea!
desserts have been a struggle for me too. i really like having a little something sweet in the evenings every now and then. friday night, the craving wasn’t too strong, so i went with some sweet cherries and they hit the spot!
but last night i was going crazy for a treat. i checked the nutella label. nope. it has skim milk. i peeked in the freezer and only saw regular vanilla ice cream. not gonna work. then i remembered a package of dark chocolate m&m’s in the cabinet. nope. they also have milk!
it got to the point where brad asked if i wanted him to go get me something from the store! haha (good husband right there!).
but before it got that far, i broke into this dark chocolate bar (no dairy!), broke off a square, and dipped it in cinnamon almond butter.
ahhhhhh. seriously, so much better.
so, it hasn’t been a 100% smooth transition and sometimes i crave cheese/yogurt/ice cream like crazy, but i think the dairy elimination is going well so far!
………………..
i hope you all have a great day!
if you eat dairy, what would be the hardest thing for you to give up?
