…and i’m scared!
of course, the first time you do anything that you’ve built up in your head as a big deal it’ll be a little nerve-wracking. but there is something adding to my nerves this morning.
this was the weather forecast for race time as of last night:
ouch.
not pretty.
i am still excited though! i don’t ever get another first race, so i am surely going to make the best of this one!
plus, this is crazylegs! it’s a madison institution. and it ends at the 50 yard line in camp randall. pretty awesome if you ask me.
plus, plus, i’m running it with kelly! we’re both racing virgins and not entirely prepared for this race. so we’ll struggle through it in the cold & rain together.
plus, plus, plus, my only goals for the race are to have fun, finish, and not die. as long as those things are accomplished, i will be happy!
i picked up my race packet yesterday afternoon.
i have to admit, it wasn’t very exciting. just a line and a booth with people ready to check you in… but still cool i guess… and i like the shirt.
as a racing newbie, i decided that i had to do what i always saw other runners do the night before their races: lay everything out to get ready.
so, i’ve got my bib, shoes/socks, (charged) ipod,
clothes (i’m thinking running tights, a bondi band (so i can wear it over my ears), and layers), spibelt, heart rate monitor…
plus a sweatshirt (and maybe sweatpants?) to wear until race start and clothes to leave in my car to change into in case i’m a soaking wet mess for my 25 minute drive home afterwards!
right now i’m really wishing that i had thought to pick up a poncho…
but, other than that, i think i’m as ready as i’ll ever be!
bring it on.
