ahh. i just wrote “march foodie penpals” for the title. where did april go?!?
this month i was lucky enough to have frieda from purple oven mitt* send me a package of goodies.
*i love her blog name – purple is my favorite color!
she sent me a package with some new to me foods and a beautiful postcard of san juan islands in washington with a note about the products she sent me. they’re all made in washington or in nearby vancouver, ca!
i like having granola bars around for hunger attacks, and these lotta’ apricotta bars look like a tasty choice!
i was excited to try this breakfast cookie.
it’s not something i’d probably ever pick up myself, and i know why: it’s too tasty! i told myself i’d just break off a piece to try it, but i ended up eating the whole thing!
totally worth it.
i’ve had nature’s path granola before, but i’ve never tried the acai apple with pomegranate flavor before. i’ve already got a bag of granola open, but i can’t wait to taste this stuff as soon as we finish up our current bag!
and finally, i professed my love of tea to frieda, so she sent me this variety pack of tea sticks – you brew the tea by just putting the sticks in the hot water – very cool.
thank you so much for the treats, frieda!

i was thrilled to be matched to send a package to laura at becoming the odd duck. she has become one of my favorite blogger friends and i was so excited to put together her package. go check out what i sent to her!

and now, if you’re interested in participating in foodie penpals, here are the details. (and for the record, i definitely think you should participate. it’s always so much fun to receive a package in the mail, plus you’ll “meet” new blogging friends. it’s a win-win!)
-on the 5th of every month, you will receive your penpal pairing via email. it will be your responsibility to contact your penpal and get their mailing address and any other information you might need like allergies or dietary restrictions.
-you will have until the 15th of the month to put your box of goodies in the mail. on the last day of the month, you will post about the goodies you received from your penpal!
-the boxes are to be filled with fun foodie things, local food items or even homemade treats! the spending limit is $15. the box must also include something written. this can be anything from a note explaining what’s in the box, to a fun recipe…use your imagination!
-you are responsible for figuring out the best way to ship your items depending on their size and how fragile they are. (don’t forget about flat rate boxes!)
-foodie penpals is open to blog readers as well as bloggers. if you’re a reader and you get paired with a blogger, you are to write a short guest post for your penpal to post on their blog about what you received. if two readers are paired together, neither needs to worry about writing a post for that month.
-foodie penplas is open to u.s. & canadian residents. please note, canadian residents will be paired with other canadians only. we’ve determined things might get too slow and backed up if we’re trying to send foods through customs across the border from u.s. to canada and vice versa. so, there are going to be two separate lists and match u.s. w/ u.s. and canada w/ canada!
if you’re interested in participating for april, please CLICK HERE to fill out the participation form and read the terms and conditions.
you must submit your information by may 4th as pairings will be emailed on may 5th!

and finally, i urge you to hop over to lindsay’s blog today. she has a link-up party for everyone who participated in foodie penpals. clicking over to see what everyone else got is almost as exciting as opening my own package!
