hey everyone, i moved! sarah learns is now all grown up with its own domain (www.sarahlearns.com/). if you want to continue getting my posts in your reader or email every day, please update your feeds by using those cute little buttons over on the sidebar). thanks!
i know you’re probably already sick of seeing goal check-in posts, but i love lists and seeing how i did on things, so i’m going along with this trend.
i made all kinds of goals for 2011 and broke them into fitness, education, and personal goals. i already checked in on my fitness and education goals (i did ok on them…), so now let’s see those personal goals!
personal goals.
- improve my cooking/baking skills by trying one new recipe from cookbooks or blogs per week
did i do it? yes! i didn’t track it, but i consistently tried new recipes all year and definitely moved out of my comfort zone for preparing food.
- try a new food each month
did i do it? yes! or at least pretty close… i tried all kind of new things in 2011! almond milk (which is now a staple of my diet), tempeh, spirulina, socca, farro, and many more.
- try a new restaurant each month
did i do it? yes! maybe not one per month, but i tried more than 12 new restaurants in 2011. some that pop into my head are bluephies, lazy jane’s, and samba. i tried plenty more though!
- start a blog and post at least 5 times per week, hopefully daily
did i do it? yes yes yes! i can’t believe i started this blog a year ago on december 31! blogging has become such an important part of my life – i’m sorry i didn’t start it sooner.
- meditate daily for 5 minutes in the morning OR at night
did i do it? eh. this is one of those goals where i started out really strong, but then fizzled out on through the year. i didn’t keep this one up, sadly.
- get organized
did i do it? yes! i know this was a vague goal, but i wrote it with the intention of getting organized before brad and i moved in together and i definitely accomplished that. i could definitely stand for a bit more organization in 2012 though. we’ve somehow accumulated a ton of stuff already even though we’ve only lived in our apartment for 9 months.
overall personal.
i think i did a great job on this set of goals in 2011! the only one that i didn’t succeed on was the meditation goal. i have a lot of ideas for personal growth in 2012.

I started my blog this year, in April! Definitely a big accomplishment for the year. I always have a lot of goals bouncing around in my head but my problem is that I want to get them all done.right.now. and I stress myself out. For 2012, I want to set timely, realistic goals!
it’s a HUGE accomplishment! i love your blog too, it’s adorable.
that’s a really good goal for 2012. it’s easy to try to do so much and end up making yourself crazy!
this year I wanted to increase my running. check
I wanted to create a blog. check
I wanted to teach myself to cook healthy foods. check
I wanted to worry less/travel more. not so much. working on it though
Tasha @ Dine & Dash recently posted…The right guy.
wow, nice work! you have more “checks” than i did!
it’s hard to change your state of mind and worry less. i feel like that’s a process that takes more than one year to master!
